About the Role:

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and inspirational Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team of a leading commercial construction company on the North Shore. This company specialises in the construction of commercial property developments.

The Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Manager we are seeking will have a strong background in the construction sector, who will be able to drive both strategic and operational outcomes.


The purpose of the role is to collaboratively promote and enhance the safety culture to ensure all staff and contractors are able to return home at the end of the day without injury


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Report directly to the General Manager, you will provide health and safety expertise, guidance and direction across the organisation. This key role ensures the safety at multiple building sites.
  • Lead the implementation of the organisation’s Health and Safety Policy Framework across the business, and ensuring that protocols and guidelines are adhered to and minimise accidents and incidents
  • Further develop and implement an environmental management system, ensure compliance with environmental legislation, develop tools and systems to monitor performance and promote environmental sustainability
  • Champion the implementation of robust Quality Tracking systems, ensuring risk of re-work is minimised and accurate records of work in progress is maintained
  • Actively promote organisational Health and Safety culture and practices to create a work environment that provides both health and safety of staff, contractors and visitors
  • Consult employees on health and safety issues and support project delivery teams to provide a higher level of service
  • Conduct audit and inspection activities on building sites, ensuring that sites maintain compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems and legislation
  • Develop emergency evacuation plans and business continuity plans
  • Prepare and present Health and Safety reports to the General Manager and CEO with recommendations to improve practices


Skills & Attributes:

  • Robust experience with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management within the construction industry sector
  • Proven experience in the successful management of workplace Health & Safety activities, strategies and governance across multiple sites in a complex work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and coach at a senior level and demonstrate a collaborative constructive approach
  • Relevant Tertiary level qualifications
  • Strategic thinker – with the ability to plan and successfully implement desired results
  • Outstanding business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Effective and professional communication skills, great interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Energetic, professional and self-motivated with a positive approach to work
