We are searching for a SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR to join a dynamic and successful company that specialise in large commercial developments.

We are searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who has strong experience with a Main Contractor on vertical projects of $5M to $10+M, to join a progressive and well respected, well-established and stable company based in Albany on the North Shore.

This is a new role to meet the demands of the on-going, and confirmed future workload. Because this construction company is closely affiliated with an investment / development company, this role offers a very interesting variety of work in the commercial development space.

The Role:

You will be joining the existing experienced QS team based in the project office, doing the full range of duties that go with a Main Contractor Quantity Surveyor role.

Key tasks:

  • Initial budgets and feasibility of projects
  • Measuring and estimating (take-off’s from drawings and spec’s)
  • Preparing tender documents and calling for tenders for sub trades
  • Estimating preliminary and general costs (P&G)
  • Preparing Main Contractor tender packages
  • Evaluating tenders and risk assessment of sub trades contractors
  • Preparing project budgets and forecasts
  • Managing variations and progress claims
  • Cost management of the projects and reporting against budgets and forecasts
  • Client reporting

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a commercial  Main Contractor environment
  • Accurate measurement skills
  • Proficient estimating skills
  • Sound understanding of NZ building codes
  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral
  • Well-developed budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Strong MS Excel
