Fitter/Mechanic – Engineering Workshop | Dunedin

Workshop-based role maintaining specialised bitumen fleet and plant equipment supporting critical roading infrastructure.

Our client is seeking a skilled Fitter/Mechanic to join their Dunedin Engineering Workshop team. Working alongside two experienced technicians, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and certifying a specialised bitumen mobile fleet (sprayers and tankers), ensuring vehicles remain compliant, reliable, and operational.

This is a hands-on role offering variety across both mobile fleet and fixed plant maintenance, with occasional work on an Asphalt Plant as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and repair bitumen sprayers and tankers
  • Prepare and maintain vehicles to meet certification requirements
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs
  • Assist with Asphalt Plant maintenance as required
  • Maintain accurate service and compliance records
  • Work safely within a collaborative workshop team

About You

  • Trade-qualified Fitter/Mechanic or relevant heavy mechanical experience
  • Background with heavy vehicles, tankers, or mobile plant (advantageous)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Understanding of compliance/certification requirements preferred
  • Reliable, practical, and team-oriented
