South Island Area Manager

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for the South Island region - providing clear direction, supporting your team, and ensuring strong performance.

You’ll be someone who is comfortable making decisions, setting expectations, and keeping things on track, while still building positive working relationships across your team and the wider industry.

Based in Christchurch, you have the flexibility to work both in the office and from home, with regular travel to stay connected and visible.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and support a team of 6 to achieve regional goals
• Set clear expectations and guide performance across the team
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and stakeholders
• Support the delivery and growth of apprenticeship and trainee programmes
• Contribute to regional planning and ongoing improvement
• Keep systems, processes, and reporting running smoothly

About You

You’re a confident, steady leader who knows how to provide direction while keeping people engaged and on board.

• Previous experience leading or managing a team
• Comfortable setting expectations and following through
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience working towards targets or performance goals
• Background in training, L&D, or a related field (helpful)
• Knowledge of NZQA or industry training (advantageous)
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence

Salary range: $120K + vehicle + health cover + prof dev + hybrid
